I owned 2 ukes.   It's a fun instrument, especially for travel, but it made me pine for my guitar, because I could do so much more with my guitar.   But now I have my guitar but don't have access to my ukulele and I miss it so much.  I could literally just walk down to the park and play.    If you are just starting out in music, I HIGHLY recommend the piano.   If there ever was a instrument to enter the world of music on, I'd have to say piano is the best, and I play all instruments except double reed instruments (oboe/bassoon).   ^__^  Good luck!
